Samsung starts testing new mobile payments service

Samsung starts testing its own mobile payments service SamsungPay in Korea.

Owners of smartphones S6 and S6 Edge in Korea can participate in public trial of the service before a wide rollout kicks off in nearest future. SamsungPay mixes NFC (ApplePay and GoogleWallet use this technology) with technology that allows Samsung's smartphones to communicate with magnetic stripes card readers. It makes the new mobile payments service instantly compatible with all-out payment terminals we can see at retailers today.

Recently Samsung said that users likely wouldn't be seeing new mobile payments service until September. However, this test may indicate that a larger rollout is coming very soon.
